Determination to dry the ocean of material existence.

The process of Bhakti yoga needs determination; determination to dry the huge ocean of material existence although it may appear impossible .
As for determination, one should follow the example of the sparrow who lost her eggs in the waves
of the ocean. A sparrow laid her eggs on the shore of the ocean but waves of the ocean  carried away her eggs. The sparrow became very upset and asked ocean to return her eggs but ocean refused to do so. Although ocean denied her request she didn't give up hope to get back her eggs. She challenged the ocean to get her eggs by drying the ocean. She began to pick out the water in her small beak and throw it in land. Everyone laughed. She was doing again and again. Ocean couldn't control his laughter. Everyone laughed at her impossible determination to dry out that huge ocean. The news spread everywhere out of fun. At last Garuda, the gigantic bird carrier of the Lord Vishnu, heard that news. Garuda became compassionate towards her little sister bird and came to see the sparrow. Sparrow was throwing the drops of water from sea to land. She continued with her endeavor without thinking success or failure. Her determination pleased Garuda. So he wanted to help her. Garuda at  once asked Ocean to return eggs to sparrow and also threatened ocean to dry by himself if his order is not obeyed. The ocean was frightened at this , and returned the eggs. Thus the sparrow became happy by the grace of Garuda.
As already stated in the beginning Bhakti yoga also needs determination just like that of the little sparrow. Originally it may appear impossible for us to execute devotional activities i.e. finishing our material existence and spiritually situated but our constant determination will please the lord one day just like sparrow's determination pleased Garuda. Finally we will be successful to cross this huge ocean of material existence. Most of us give up hope even before giving a try. We should get inspiration to adopt devotional lifestyle from the story of determination of sparrow.
